Government visa fees are non refundable. Add the VFS service charge, courier, and any optional services such as Check and Verify. The €10,000 living figure sits on top of your unpaid tuition. Confirm the current rupee amounts through VFS before your appointment.
Every requirement an Indian applicant must satisfy for the long stay D study visa. Tap a row to expand the full detail. Tick each one off as you complete it. Where the official New Delhi checklist differs from any agent list, follow the official one.
Book through the official VFS Ireland India site. Centres include Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. VFS submits your file. The Embassy decides. VFS does not approve or refuse visas.
Provide a signed and dated letter to the Visa Officer. State each of the following.
Straightforward progression is easy, such as B.Com to MSc Finance or B.Tech CS to MSc Artificial Intelligence. A major change needs a stronger case. Explain why the change is necessary, what experience supports it, which modules link to your goal, why you did not choose a similar course in India, and how you will use the qualification after graduation.
Where the final degree is not issued yet, add the provisional certificate, complete final transcripts, the consolidated marksheet, a university completion letter, and the expected date of issue. Disclose any backlogs or repeat examinations accurately.
Include an updated CV covering education, employment, internships, training, examinations, research, skills, projects, and any unemployment or exam preparation. Dates must match AVATS, your letters, your academic records, and your bank documents.
Account for each significant gap after school or your last qualification. Support with employer letters, experience certificates, salary slips, contracts, EPF records, Form 16, income tax returns, internship or training certificates, or a clear written statement. A gap is not automatic refusal. An unexplained or contradictory gap weakens the file.
Show total tuition, amount paid, remaining balance, required living expenses, your funds, sponsor funds, loan and scholarship amounts, the source of every major fund, and funding for later years. Complete the official Summary of Finances form or the equivalent the checklist requires. Figures must match the bank statements exactly.
Worked example. Total tuition €18,000, paid €6,000, outstanding €12,000, plus €10,000 living funds. You must explain access to at least €22,000, plus travel, insurance, and settlement costs.
VFS India notes that the Embassy recommends its Check and Verify service for student financial documents, because finances are often decisive. It is an optional paid service and does not guarantee approval. Check whether it covers your bank and centre.
Anyone giving financial support is a sponsor and must be declared, including parents. The letter states the sponsor name, address, contact, occupation, relationship, the programme, the exact costs covered, the amount available, the source of funds, the number of dependants, and a commitment to support you throughout. Prove the relationship with a birth or marriage certificate, passport copies, family records, or guardianship documents. Aadhaar and PAN support identity but do not prove a family link on their own.
Submit at least six months of sponsor statements, plus balance certificates, fixed deposit receipts and statements, savings or mutual fund statements, proof that investments can be liquidated, and an explanation of recent deposits.
Submit the final sanction letter with the lender name, applicant and co borrower names, approved amount, course and institution, security, disbursement terms, conditions, amount released, and proof it can be drawn down. An in principle offer is weaker than a final sanction. If the loan covers only tuition, add separate living funds.
Submit the award letter with the organisation, amount, duration, tuition and living coverage, payment schedule, conditions, and a verification contact. Cover any shortfall with separate evidence.
Provide the receipt, bank confirmation, maturity date, encashment rules, source of funds, and the statement showing the deposit was created. The deposit must be genuine and accessible.
Show that genuine study is your main purpose. Use family relationships, current employment or approved study leave, career prospects, business ownership, professional registration, property, and a clear plan for using the qualification in India. Property ownership is not required.
Disclose relevant relatives with their name, relationship, address, immigration status, passport or IRP copy, and whether they will provide accommodation or support. Do not omit a close relative just because they are not sponsoring you.
Declare every refusal from any country, with the refusal letter, the decision notice, an explanation, and proof the earlier concern is resolved. Also declare overstays, deportations, removal orders, cancelled visas, refused entry, previous asylum claims, previous Irish permission, and past names. Add copies of previous Irish Residence Permits where you held them.
Applicants aged six and over give fingerprints and a digital photo at the VFS centre. Attend in person unless an official exemption applies.
These steps run in sequence, so the order matters. Numbers signal the path from offer to submission.
Choose an eligible programme and secure an unconditional offer.
Satisfy the academic and English language requirements.
Pay the required tuition amount to the institution.
Hold genuine funds for at least six months.
Arrange or confirm private medical insurance.
Assemble academic and employment documents.
Fill in AVATS, print, sign, and date the summary.
Get the current New Delhi Visa Office checklist.
Book your appointment through VFS India.
Arrange documents in checklist order with dividers and an index.
Attend VFS in person, give biometrics, and submit. Keep the receipt.
Monitor the decision and respond fast to any request. Do not buy a non refundable flight yet.
These patterns weaken Indian applications most often. Clear each one before you submit.
The visa lets you travel to an Irish port of entry. It does not guarantee entry. The immigration officer may ask about your course, institution, funding, accommodation, and immigration history. Your answers should match your application. Carry these in hand luggage.
If you stay longer than 90 days, register your permission and obtain an Irish Residence Permit. You will normally need your passport, entry visa, entry stamp, enrolment letter, proof of fee payment, medical insurance, and the registration fee. Visa required students have their finances assessed at the visa stage, but still travel with accessible proof of funds.
